Cantina del Gio, I have been collecting this restaurant for a long time, and I heard that it is an authentic Italian flavor. However, I have never been to Italy myself, and I cannot verify its orthodoxy. The interior of the store is indeed quite atmospheric. The warm-colored lighting, wooden furniture and brick decoration make a good first impression, but the subsequent meals and prices make me slightly reserved in my evaluation of it.

Appetizers and cold dishes:

Bread with Basamik vinegar olive oil

Bassamik has a high degree of acetic acid, and the sour taste almost overwhelms the aroma of olive oil. The bread itself is baked hard and crispy, and the taste is crisp, but it will be a bit dry when eaten alone.

Organic quinoa smoked ham, grapefruit and sesame leaf salad

The amount of smoked ham is very heroic, almost covering the whole plate, suitable for pairing with wine. It's a pity that sesame leaves and ham feel heavier when they are eaten separately, and the overall integration is not high.

Cochineal shrimp tartare brata Cheese

This dish was originally the combination I was most looking forward to. The chopped brata cheese is spread with finely cut cochineal shrimp and the wafer cake is placed under it. The multi-level taste is very good. If you can add a little acidity to enhance the flavor and balance the fat and sweetness, it should be better.

Hot food and main dishes

Carbon grilled lamb shoulder steak with smoked Japanese eggplant puree

It is listed as a must-order by many gourmets, and I think it's really worth a try. The meat of the lamb chops is soft and tender without fishy smell, and the maturity is just right. The sauce of the smoked eggplant puree complements the lamb. It is the most satisfactory one tonight.

American Selected Rib Eye Steak

It is said that it is roasted in a wood-fired kiln, but the aroma is not obvious. The meat quality is acceptable, and it can be regarded as a well-behaved steak.

Overall dining experience and personal feelings

Overall, the amount of meals is too large, and people who like to eat meat should feel satisfied. The store manager will personally recommend the wine, and the service of pairing the food and wine is careful. But there are also common problems in restaurants and taverns-the dining environment is noisy, the tables are close, and the sense of privacy is insufficient; coupled with the high price, the two people spend 5-6 thousand yuan, and the overall CP value is not ideal.

Choosy Chou

Hi, this is Chou Chou. Because I have always been "picky" about good things, I founded Choosy Chou to record and share the food, flavors and travel experiences that are truly worthy of being remembered. I am a food and flavor explorer, from street food to Michelin restaurants, from hidden bars to boutique cafes, I like to use my professional senses to taste, understand and compare, rather than just taking pictures and checking in. I have WSET Wine Level 2, WSET Sake Level 1, SSI Sake Navigator, and Coffee CSP Sensory Skill Foundation licenses. I hope to use a more systematic way to show you the flavor value behind a glass of wine and a dish. I have traveled to many countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, Iceland, and the United Kingdom.
