This time I finally ate the third stop of "Playing the World" launched by Birdy Yakitori: the Southeast Asian menu! The periodic table of elements constructed from various parts of the chicken indicates the weight of the taste, and the matching of Nanyang flavor shows different levels of skewering fun. The overall experience is very amazing. Although the sommelier's performance is not as expected, the cuisine itself has both creativity and taste, and it is a yakiniku specialty store that you will want to visit again.

Wukong Nanyang Cuisine Area

Lemongrass chicken white Soup

It is made with lemongrass, cardamom, chili and lemon. It is refreshing with a bit of hot and sour aftertaste. It is just right for the opening, refreshing and appetizing.

🍍 Nanyang Raw Chicken Tartare

Inspired by raw pickled dishes from Southeast Asia, chicken sashimi is used with jasmine tea pickled slices and pineapple Shakyamuni puree. The bottom layer is pineapple bread flour, which is refreshing and layered, and it is full of surprises.

Korean Chicken Fried Spring Rolls

Vietnamese-style rice paper wrapped in chicken, coriander, cucumber and bright white bamboo shoots, it is crispy fried, and the chili sauce used with the appetizer is very delicious. It is a super pleasing snack style dish.

Spicy Satay Chicken Liver skewers

Cold-smoked chicken liver with satay sauce, pickled dragon fruit and parmesan cheese. The idea is wonderful, but the satay flavor is too heavy to overshadow the fineness of the chicken liver and dragon fruit itself, which is a pity.

Fresh tomato Sorbet & Pickled Vegetables

The design of clearing the mouth is very good, but concentrating them all in one place will make the pickled vegetables lose the refreshing function of "always available". I hope that in the future, it can be changed to a standing table in the form of a small bowl.

Fried chicken with spicy sauce

The chicken drumsticks are paired with homemade hot sauce, which is crispy and non-greasy, and the sauce has a balanced flavor. It is the most suitable potential player to start a side business of fried chicken in this Nanyang trip.

Spicy Chicken Laksa Noodles

The staple food of ramen style, using shredded chicken breast, charcoal roasted bean sprouts and bean skin, is rich in layers, and the flavor is not lost to the professional laksa shop. The end is very satisfying.

串Skewers Area|Feast for all chicken seats

I tasted the skewers in sequence.:
• Salt roasted chicken neck
• Positive meat
•Achilles tendon (favorite! )
* Grilled chicken heart with sauce (juicy and delicious)
•Half-cooked chicken breast (normal)
• Middle wing
• Seven-flavor powder chicken skin
•Tsukimi chicken meatballs (it is recommended to add more cartilage)

The most recommended is Achilles tendon. The whole piece is grilled over charcoal and then cut in pairs to retain the gravy and bite; Tsukimi chicken balls and chicken hearts also have standard performance.

Add a little area

•Lymph, dorsal liver, chicken gizzards

Among them, the chicken gizzards have a crispy mouth, and the rest are ordinary. I didn't meet the lantern I wanted to eat and the fallopian tubes, I'm sorry~

🍨 Desserts & drinks

Orangutan Marlin sugar coconut Milk ice Cream

In the middle is a coconut smoothie, and the bottom layer is Momo pimple. The layers of tropical sweetness are amazing. It is the dessert that impresses me the most in this meal.

Lemongrass Pineapple Fernanxue & Banlan Cake

Yinyue green tea with berry aroma has a fresh aroma and a delicate finish. Both of them won my heart.

Wine pairing

🍷Wine Pairing (5 cups)

This part is the biggest failure.
The pairing is completely out of sync with the cooking. For example, heavy-flavored skewers with fragrant smoked wine are easy to be abrupt. It is recommended that if you are not a regular customer who understands the wine list, it is safer to order a beer next time. With the same southern ocean style, Coast's pairing is more coordinated and delicate.

Overall dining experience and personal feelings

Birdy Yakitori's cuisine is excellent in creativity and execution, especially the interpretation of Nanyang flavor and the charcoal technique of chicken skewers. It is even more creative than some local yakitori shops in Japan, and the dessert finish is also impressive. The only failure is the sommelier design, which is seriously out of touch with the cooking style, which is a pity.

But at this price, the sense of experience, meal quality and creativity are quite high, and it is a good store worth grabbing. It's just... it's really hard to make a reservation.

But if you are lucky enough to have a reservation in place, please remember:The skewers are too strong, choose the wine pairing carefully。

Hi, this is Chou Chou. Because I have always been "picky" about good things, I founded Choosy Chou to record and share the food, flavors and travel experiences that are truly worthy of being remembered. I am a food and flavor explorer, from street food to Michelin restaurants, from hidden bars to boutique cafes, I like to use my professional senses to taste, understand and compare, rather than just taking pictures and checking in. I have WSET Wine Level 2, WSET Sake Level 1, SSI Sake Navigator, and Coffee CSP Sensory Skill Foundation licenses.
