This is a highly topical restaurant. It focuses on the set meal design of Teppanyaki, tempura, and crab. There are full expectations from the reservation to the entry, but after the actual meal, the feeling is very different from expectations.

Next, I will share in detail the feelings of each meal and the overall dining experience for your reference.

NEST TEPPANYAKI|Crab Feast X Tempura X Teppanyaki

🦀 Opening and appetizer

Matsuba crab balls + fried seaweed + salmon eggs

This appetizer is one of the few things in this set meal that impressed me. Matsuba crab meat is mixed with crab paste, kneaded into a ball and placed on the fried seaweed, plus salmon roe. The seafood is rich and layered. It is a very successful opening.

Matsuba Crab Tofu Soup

The taste of this soup is puzzling. The tofu itself can't feel the flavor of matsuba crab at all. The soup has a wonderful lemon flavor. To be honest, the sour taste reminds me of tofu. This kind of performance is not careful enough in the high-priced package.

🦀

Cage steamed cod farm crab feet

This dish uses fresh 3.2 kg cod farm crabs. The meat of the crab feet is fresh and sweet, and it performs well with the fragrance of the leaves, but the details of the cooking are a bit rough, and the crab shell is not handled carefully enough, which makes it slightly inconvenient to eat.

Steamed eggs with crab paste in cod farm

The performance of this dish is mediocre, the steamed egg itself is watery, the crab paste and the egg are not fused, the taste is separated, and the taste is not coordinated.

Pan-fried cod farm crab body

This is a dish that I am personally most disappointed in. If the crab shell is not treated clean, it is directly wrapped in flour and fried, resulting in a rough taste and difficult to eat. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable in a package of nearly 8,000 yuan.

Tempura Cuisine

Seven kinds of tempura: eel, wild rice bamboo shoots, dried scallops with perilla leaves, fruit corn, seaweed-wrapped sea urchins, comb melons, cod farm crab feet

This part of the cuisine is the biggest highlight of this meal. The performance of the fried food is above the overall level, the noodles are thin and crispy, and the heat is well controlled. I especially like the taste of scallops that are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, while the seaweed-wrapped sea urchins are unexpectedly stunning. The heated sea urchins are rich and not fishy, and the vegetables also maintain a refreshing taste. The overall is very worthy of affirmation.

Teppanyaki Cuisine

A4 Japanese wagyu beef

The chef specifically mentioned that A5 wagyu beef is not used in the store, on the grounds that A5 is too oily and is not suitable for teppanyaki. In fact, although this piece of A4 wagyu beef tastes evenly distributed in fat, the meat is ordinary and the flavor is thin, and there are no highlights as a whole.

Eel rice

The main character is the eel that has been fried and then grilled on an iron plate, served with rice and sauce. As a result, the fish skin sticks to the iron plate, and the appearance and taste are reduced. Eel rice is supposed to be the highlight of Japanese cuisine, but this dish is disappointing in both process and taste.

Stir-fried seasonal vegetables

Seeing stir-fried vegetables at this price is really dumbfounded. It's almost like the stir-fried vegetables eaten in Tai Po Teppanyaki. There is no special seasoning and no plate design. It is completely incompatible with the whole set of dishes.

Dessert and finishing

Chocolate omelette + Cantaloupe

It is quite a special practice for chocolate cakes to be fried on an iron plate, and the taste is well-behaved. The cantaloupe is still only cut in half. Maybe my mouth is not big enough, so I really can't eat it gracefully. This way of finishing makes people feel sloppy.

Overall dining experience and personal feelings

Disappointment is far greater than surprise

Although it mainly combines multiple elements such as teppanyaki, tempura, and crab feast, the actual presentation is uneven. The dishes lack logic and integration of the main axis, and the detailed processing often makes people frown. In particular, the teppanyaki part is the main focus, but the performance is the weakest.

Moreover, the service has not reached the standards that high prices should have. The chef didn't put on his mask and spoke while making people feel uncomfortable. The hygiene details are not in place, and it is hard to be forgiven at this price range.

The tempura part does have highlights, but at a price of almost 8,000 yuan for a meal, it shouldn't be just fried food and appetizers.

Overall rating and cost

⭐Rating: 3.5/10 (only tempura is qualified)
Price:$7000 + 10% service charge

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A MEMORABLE HIGH-END TEPPANYAKI FEAST, THEN THIS NEST TEPPANYAKI MAY NOT BE THE BEST CHOICE. But if you want to experience a mix and match of different dishes, or just for tempura, you may be able to find some fun from it.

關於我

Choosy Chou

Hi, this is Chou Chou. Because I have always been "picky" about good things, I founded Choosy Chou to record and share the food, flavors and travel experiences that are truly worthy of being remembered. I am a food and flavor explorer, from street food to Michelin restaurants, from hidden bars to boutique cafes, I like to use my professional senses to taste, understand and compare, rather than just taking pictures and checking in. I have WSET Wine Level 2, WSET Sake Level 1, SSI Sake Navigator, and Coffee CSP Sensory Skill Foundation licenses. I hope to use a more systematic way to show you the flavor value behind a glass of wine and a dish. I have traveled to many countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, Iceland, and the United Kingdom. I believe that the most authentic language in the world is hidden on the table and in the cup. Choosy is not picky, but an insistence on the quality of life. You are welcome to join me in savoring the world with higher standards.
